<br />
After finishing up with Stephanie's quilt for the Coast to Coast Traveling Bee, I quickly jumped into getting <a href="https://littlebunnyquilts.blogspot.com/">Alison's</a> done. There are two reasons for this: 1) I'm moving soon. I don't want to accidentally lose or pack any of this lovely quilt! and 2) Get a look at those fabrics! How could I not get excited to work with such a cheery group?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXPegvZggHaUEjDlNotrU3kfGBaTA1i6eHyUxA8zyDsIzyNPTIeJMuLUmcHE676dCOzMwqxezEtZDsMc22-Adn3On8nxz5JxHOs6WvZotESNrNMJ1wXm8buo5p6pZLoTTJ9oOQDUlvExM/s1600/Photo+Jun+17%252C+3+33+27+PM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXPegvZggHaUEjDlNotrU3kfGBaTA1i6eHyUxA8zyDsIzyNPTIeJMuLUmcHE676dCOzMwqxezEtZDsMc22-Adn3On8nxz5JxHOs6WvZotESNrNMJ1wXm8buo5p6pZLoTTJ9oOQDUlvExM/s1600/Photo+Jun+17%252C+3+33+27+PM.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
For C2C this year, Alison requested a 48" row featuring any kind of block we liked--within reason, of course. I opted for a <a href="http://www.freshlemonsquilts.com/summer-sampler-series-greek-cross/">Greek Cross block</a>, and I used Fresh Lemons Quilts' tutorial. Alison had sent along this super fun set of charms and some additional yardage, and I opted to use a yellow solid for my background fabric, mostly because none of the other rows had gone yellow, and isn't it such a sunny shade? <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3Q00iqYiiDFHlL79aoULeUoLd9pgM9p0PB9Cgr6SbdEOnED6dWck70o0Y7XyefuTSsbfl_phX_VLApqkSWEaXs9qZEdRC1fhJOwkBwMuChaofliJFnSuwuUh-Kmg0_A7Vim_IcLcUwHM/s1600/Photo+Jun+17%252C+3+33+38+PM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3Q00iqYiiDFHlL79aoULeUoLd9pgM9p0PB9Cgr6SbdEOnED6dWck70o0Y7XyefuTSsbfl_phX_VLApqkSWEaXs9qZEdRC1fhJOwkBwMuChaofliJFnSuwuUh-Kmg0_A7Vim_IcLcUwHM/s1600/Photo+Jun+17%252C+3+33+38+PM.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
This is my favorite of the four blocks that I made. I really like the fabric used for the center cross. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDQTpHgUlGI8lo8UjZdlVXjOVkhIhiRfgnmSyzl3NW67xbqPhoEp2d0uFtjhGmcQqMg9KKsO0Tu7xd-sUZd-vpxDU0kJnyFtY7Licm0BR4euYqCRw6cddiVkGAcGzF3iXT5R1UH_8_KzU/s1600/Photo+Jun+17%252C+3+43+51+PM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDQTpHgUlGI8lo8UjZdlVXjOVkhIhiRfgnmSyzl3NW67xbqPhoEp2d0uFtjhGmcQqMg9KKsO0Tu7xd-sUZd-vpxDU0kJnyFtY7Licm0BR4euYqCRw6cddiVkGAcGzF3iXT5R1UH_8_KzU/s1600/Photo+Jun+17%252C+3+43+51+PM.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
And here are all the rows making friends with each other. If I'm remembering correctly, Alison is planning to sash these lovelies together, then throw a border around the entire thing. Yum yum yum yum.<br />
<br />
Friends, this concludes the Coast to Coast Traveling Bee for me for this year. Well, until I get my own quilt back, of course! For the second year in a row, this bee has proved to be challenging, but super rewarding. I'm so thankful to the ladies who sewed along with me. Onto next year! <div class="blogger-post-footer">Need more HPQ in your life? <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Stop by</a> for more goodness!</div>audreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14892548773323584333noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4722669456248196153.post-7623864813697214572018-06-30T17:23:00.000-07:002018-06-30T17:23:14.065-07:00Finished Magnolia Mystery Quilt <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
BAM. It's done, and none too soon, as it was a gift for my super awesome good friend L, and I am so excited that after working on it for A YEAR, I finally got around to finishing it and sending it along its way. Spoiler alert: she loved it! <br />

<br />
This is the <a href="http://meadowmistdesigns.blogspot.com/p/magnolia-mystery-quilt.html">Magnolia Mystery Quilt</a> from Cheryl of Meadow Mist Designs. This is the second mystery quilt that I've finished by Cheryl, and I LOVE them both. I'm a bit ashamed to tell you the first one STILL isn't completed, but it's waiting longingly for its time to shine. One of these days....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsRmSlj6QL3kWRMOMjy6quD9g5rnTV5GL8ISiYjH1htpYbCHKU94DwJdMA4_a8pilv5M_-thealE8A0b9zw2xPmjeRR8wMUrnzTS7x4D95WNwp75H6LEWP_yn3DZiEe3yAwHFbOWEvVlE/s1600/Photo+May+31%252C+9+49+05+AM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsRmSlj6QL3kWRMOMjy6quD9g5rnTV5GL8ISiYjH1htpYbCHKU94DwJdMA4_a8pilv5M_-thealE8A0b9zw2xPmjeRR8wMUrnzTS7x4D95WNwp75H6LEWP_yn3DZiEe3yAwHFbOWEvVlE/s1600/Photo+May+31%252C+9+49+05+AM.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
I kept it simple and straightforward with this one's quilting. Black stipple in the batik areas, and straight line quilting in a lime thread through the blocks. Woulda shoulda coulda gotten a picture of the back to show you the yum lime against the super awesome Grunge dot print, but I didn't. Lately, it's a struggle to remember my first name!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I so enjoyed making this quilt, and I am so pleased to know my friend loves it. She has been such an important influence on me, and I was thrilled at the idea of gifting her something that I made with my own two hands.<br />
<br />
I'm going on seven years of quilting now, and there's something still so magical about that! <div class="blogger-post-footer">Need more HPQ in your life? <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Stop by</a> for more goodness!</div>audreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14892548773323584333noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4722669456248196153.post-49663740503218856132018-06-27T05:00:00.000-07:002018-06-27T05:00:11.577-07:00C2C2: Stephanie's QuiltIt has come to my attention that I still have not one but TWO Coast to Coast Traveling Bee quilts in progress to share with you! I've actually finished up my commitment to that bee for this year, and this year's quilt tops have me soaring with excitement. BONUS: I can't WAIT to get my own quilt back!<br />
<br />
First, up, <a href="https://quiltnparty.com/">Stephanie's</a> quilt. I lucked out and found Stephanie's <a href="https://quiltnparty.com/2018/01/15/the-coast-to-coast-start/">original blog post</a> showing her quilt start and a bit of her inspiration. Stephanie shipped it to K, who shipped it to Chelsea, who shipped it to me, so I'm the fourth person who had the privilege of working on this lovely.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2LUYcy6dVBeyoJ9c-Q3ZL7oXBsHu4sTIEQrsgWMRqUcMOjmf99hM76u9d66h4Ku86rIjIYmUpgDvZdmfPCFh2a2daId_2dH0IvLDt-_k-Jwl6wr4rjkGwuZffAF_xqQ3lCe8V92CqMeY/s1600/Photo+Jun+01%252C+2+24+27+PM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2LUYcy6dVBeyoJ9c-Q3ZL7oXBsHu4sTIEQrsgWMRqUcMOjmf99hM76u9d66h4Ku86rIjIYmUpgDvZdmfPCFh2a2daId_2dH0IvLDt-_k-Jwl6wr4rjkGwuZffAF_xqQ3lCe8V92CqMeY/s1600/Photo+Jun+01%252C+2+24+27+PM.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
This is the bulk of Stephanie's quilt as of now. You can see her original trees, and also the flying geese K added and the tulips from <a href="http://patchthegiraffe.blogspot.com/">Chelsea</a>. I added a row of butterflies down the right side to follow along with the nature prompt. I felt like there was a lot of plant life, so we needed some insect life too.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE8hyn6hfhh5EPCJ6qbWQyy_x18XBQ9SWZGtUCqmpsdE4H4FZZxfdBZFX8vbI04YpD9IQ5drj640T6AaHY4Ltk7LR2vZ_vKUR30d9K5f2cZihQnY-JSgVqo48ele8N5uvD-_q8Z5bFDg8/s1600/Photo+May+11%252C+5+01+47+PM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE8hyn6hfhh5EPCJ6qbWQyy_x18XBQ9SWZGtUCqmpsdE4H4FZZxfdBZFX8vbI04YpD9IQ5drj640T6AaHY4Ltk7LR2vZ_vKUR30d9K5f2cZihQnY-JSgVqo48ele8N5uvD-_q8Z5bFDg8/s1600/Photo+May+11%252C+5+01+47+PM.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
I had so much fun picking out the fabrics for the butterflies. I kept the bodies the same fabric, but each butterfly had different colored wings. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi86kZfbVaNr3UPShqSu3YjkWPhsO9E0d3Omzc2h5norTDyIKAMJfM8pt4avtq1dqrg3mxXo2hKcmp_LcftCCMVRCmlpXruHaBOpDy51gpeuW8cxL4kWQQX_9NbBeqmP6hLvR_ts-brQw4/s1600/Photo+May+19%252C+4+35+01+PM+%25281%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi86kZfbVaNr3UPShqSu3YjkWPhsO9E0d3Omzc2h5norTDyIKAMJfM8pt4avtq1dqrg3mxXo2hKcmp_LcftCCMVRCmlpXruHaBOpDy51gpeuW8cxL4kWQQX_9NbBeqmP6hLvR_ts-brQw4/s1600/Photo+May+19%252C+4+35+01+PM+%25281%2529.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />But I didn't feel right about just sending the super fun to piece butterflies, so I went back to the cutting board...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJISzso4naHIkcnATkRog1BLNAUr7NuJ77CkYHmjssMquzpQM1fa2uWvXls0x12o0KGZRx1qARaoYFeoFoQo17l78umGwTVDuB4xMzVG0vuk2jy66WCSPlZ5Reat_onnZ1M-XaBj4md2Y/s1600/Photo+Jun+01%252C+2+21+02+PM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJISzso4naHIkcnATkRog1BLNAUr7NuJ77CkYHmjssMquzpQM1fa2uWvXls0x12o0KGZRx1qARaoYFeoFoQo17l78umGwTVDuB4xMzVG0vuk2jy66WCSPlZ5Reat_onnZ1M-XaBj4md2Y/s1600/Photo+Jun+01%252C+2+21+02+PM.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
...and churned out a row of Ohio stars. Of course, I did my quilty math totally wrong, and instead of fitting over the top of the quilt, it hung seriously over! Thankfully <a href="https://littlebunnyquilts.blogspot.com/">Alison</a>, the next person in the chain, is a total peach, and she said she'd add the stars for me after making her own additions. Whew!<br />
<br />
I'm not gonna lie, I struggled with the theme for this one. Not because
it was particularly hard, but the prompt was nature, and I am SO not a
nature-y kind of girl. Have any of y'all seen the <a href="http://jimgaffigan.com/">Jim Gaffigan</a> sketch on
camping? I think it's in his King Baby special, but the line that
always sticks out to me is when he says he's "indoorsy." SPOT ON, Jim
Gaffigan. I'm not a nature kind of girl, I'm just indoorsy. <br />
<br />
I'm starting to think about round 3 of the bee...sure, it's only June, but I'm a planner! Hopefully I'll have Alison's quilt to share with you next week! <div class="blogger-post-footer">Need more HPQ in your life? <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Stop by</a> for more goodness!</div>audreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14892548773323584333noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4722669456248196153.post-5885836956380852552018-06-23T09:08:00.001-07:002018-06-23T09:08:41.555-07:00A Geranium Dress for Vanilla<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
One of the perks of taking a three month blogging hiatus is that I actually have a few things to share with you! This whole, I'm moving soon business has been taxing to say the least, but I've managed to get a few things finished, including this super cool <a href="https://shop.made-by-rae.com/products/geranium-dress">Geranium Dress by Made by Rae</a> for my Vanilla Bean. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This green and white print came from my grandmother's stash, as did the gingham lining. I'm fairly confident they were purchased at the same time, and for the super high cost of eighty-six cents! I don't know when my grandma purchased these lovelies, but my daughter is rocking some sweet threads, let me tell you.<br />
<br />
It's obvs not perfect, but I am so pleased with how it turned out. The buttonholes aren't *perfectly* spaced, but I like to think people will be so enthralled by my adorable daughter that they won't even notice the buttonholes.<br />

Speaking of perfect, it looks as though I was totally bomb at matching those stripes and pleats from the skirt with the bodice. Between you and me, because we're friends and all, it was a TOTAL accident in cutting. But like, I'm not complaining. It looks fierce. <br />

I also finished up these stuffed pups from the Woof Woof Panel by Stacy Iest Hsu. The little pups are done too. I was watching a friend's kidlets when we suddenly encountered a quilt store in the wild. It wasn't my neck of the city, so I kinda sorta dragged three young boys into a quilt shop. (For the record, they were extremely well behaved.) We saw these pups stitched up, and the oldest boy suggested I make the pink one for Vanilla and the blue one for his baby bro. It was a most excellent plan, so of course I agreed. <div class="blogger-post-footer">Need more HPQ in your life? <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Stop by</a> for more goodness!</div>audreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14892548773323584333noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4722669456248196153.post-65766309082726205102018-03-30T05:44:00.000-07:002018-03-30T05:44:09.851-07:00Coast to Coast 2: C's QuiltI shared <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com/2018/03/coast-to-coast-2-ks-quilt.html">K's quilt</a> with y'all earlier this week, and today I'm back to share C's quilt with you! <br />
<br />

<br />
C's quilt was the first one (other than my own) that I tackled for C2C this year. I feel like the first round is always super tough--you're setting a major tone for future additions! And I struggled with C's quilt. I felt like I could go a conservative route and tack on some trees, or a sunshine in the sky, or a river underneath, and I sketched out numerous plans. I researched natural features in NH, where C is from, and I even considered improv piecing a waterfall. But none of those ideas felt right. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirLcihOshvcoQOJmfBsETMD2cLrt_e7IpZ9flSeoNNENQEvEQmELLUH2z5oY-s8fnz1uJNhGnZB2gligXPplJKTFUt2TJWNB2B5MuSNTFR0U4gjU1yZNa31ph4jhVSrXcjHtC79t_1zWI/s1600/Photo+Feb+22%252C+3+14+19+PM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirLcihOshvcoQOJmfBsETMD2cLrt_e7IpZ9flSeoNNENQEvEQmELLUH2z5oY-s8fnz1uJNhGnZB2gligXPplJKTFUt2TJWNB2B5MuSNTFR0U4gjU1yZNa31ph4jhVSrXcjHtC79t_1zWI/s1600/Photo+Feb+22%252C+3+14+19+PM.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
What did feel right was a retro travel poster idea. I reached out to C, who was okay with my idea, and I went to town! I googled retro travel posters and looked for ideas. I ultimately decided to frame the mountains with a white-on-white print and a chocolate shot cotton, which totally looks black and way too much in the pic above, but it's really a tad more demure.<br />
<br />
For the lettering, I used a red and white polka dot because I knew I wanted red. Yummy, yummy red. I bought an alphabet pattern from From Blank Pages, and it was awesome. I would totally recommend it! <br />

<br />
<br />
This was a teaser I put up on instagram, and I asked readers to guess what it was going to say. Some of the responses were totally awesome.<br />
<br />
Next I'll work on S's quilt, but I have a brief break because I haven't received it just yet. Here's hoping I can squeeze out another quilt or two and maybe even cut into the fabric I purchased for two dresses this past weekend. (Yes, two. Apparently my fabric-buying self-control went out the window this weekend. I blame it on the snow and my need to wear sundresses without heavy tights and boots.)<br />
<br />
Do you have any fun weekend sewing plans? I'm going to be staring longingly at my tangerine knit fabric and my Moneta dress pattern. Maybe??? <div class="blogger-post-footer">Need more HPQ in your life? <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Stop by</a> for more goodness!</div>audreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14892548773323584333noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4722669456248196153.post-62211445625549351152018-03-27T05:31:00.000-07:002018-03-27T05:31:58.905-07:00Coast to Coast 2: K's QuiltSo, apparently I haven't posted about the second quilt I've worked on for Coast to Coast 2018, but I just finished this one yesterday, and I'm super excited about it, so you get to see K's first. (Though I'm not gonna lie, C's is another sort of super cool.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMUKclsWJCChHZL0lReCw-F1Q0f5KHAdMfrTT2BH7ggRECL_cuVJwF18zMEeFwhF9JXEsrEgtwQEzRLVrIv_30EVbEv6e7P2nnELowjSuivVZzKvLzkm3fm3UF_G1-sHipj3eOgRW_mWI/s1600/Photo+Mar+25%252C+10+19+25+AM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMUKclsWJCChHZL0lReCw-F1Q0f5KHAdMfrTT2BH7ggRECL_cuVJwF18zMEeFwhF9JXEsrEgtwQEzRLVrIv_30EVbEv6e7P2nnELowjSuivVZzKvLzkm3fm3UF_G1-sHipj3eOgRW_mWI/s1600/Photo+Mar+25%252C+10+19+25+AM.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
This is what I received in the mail a few weeks ago. K had started with the awesome paper pieced center, and C had put it on point (SUCH an awesome decision) and added the patchwork. K requested movement, and I thought one way of furthering that goal would be to put it on point again. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhym1kmrrUoOJMOLnfyJHAMIa68NQLm2RSv_RUZ_kHp-C_DLij6N92iljqL0tWGsDg56SFJsvTGe6c-r5RG3WSXSoLpnQIjqKruLZgUlI17cgLL4mpIPlsINQ61nzl55D-Nz90pJxmIKmg/s1600/Photo+Mar+26%252C+2+13+36+PM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhym1kmrrUoOJMOLnfyJHAMIa68NQLm2RSv_RUZ_kHp-C_DLij6N92iljqL0tWGsDg56SFJsvTGe6c-r5RG3WSXSoLpnQIjqKruLZgUlI17cgLL4mpIPlsINQ61nzl55D-Nz90pJxmIKmg/s1600/Photo+Mar+26%252C+2+13+36+PM.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
So I did.<br />
<br />
My initial plan was to do stripes. The starting point is gorgeous with a yum low volume/color balance, but I thought the use of minimal LV and bold colors in my round would be a fun contrast. (It also feels like a total Audrey move, not gonna lie.) But stripes seemed kinda...boring. And since K is not only my quilt bee buddy but ALSO the person who introduced me to quilting, I couldn't just slap together a set of stripes and call it done. So I added triangles, which I think was the right move.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilN-5QPtlk4GZ4p7o65ByF2LzB7kwd5wGY0Kxrba-VcpwXn60cvSB9o_s0CMdVbEoV02hltRuoZtltZXmfh8vARTxriPZlVQfHl2dcncCKos3uJQY60eaCFTIRS44GnNCna1kTzgK3OEI/s1600/Photo+Mar+25%252C+2+56+59+PM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilN-5QPtlk4GZ4p7o65ByF2LzB7kwd5wGY0Kxrba-VcpwXn60cvSB9o_s0CMdVbEoV02hltRuoZtltZXmfh8vARTxriPZlVQfHl2dcncCKos3uJQY60eaCFTIRS44GnNCna1kTzgK3OEI/s1600/Photo+Mar+25%252C+2+56+59+PM.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
The fabrics I chose for this were a yellow pin dot I had in stash, an Alison Glass print in orange (one of my fave prints from her), some grunge in a cream, a fun batik I picked up, and this purple stripe print, which I think seals the deal. Like, it would be cool without it, and I almost chickened out and went with a grunge in purple, but the saleslady caught me putting back the stripe-y bolt and pretty much strong-armed me into it. (In the best sort of way--she was lovely.) I was worried the stripes wouldn't line up and it would be super obvious, but I think it works out okay.<br />
<br />
I also chose to piece the yellow and orange at different widths, so in two corners, the yellow is more prominent, and in two, the orange is more prominent. I obviously didn't make the width too different because I don't think most people would notice, but I had hoped it would add to the movement theme.<br />
<br />
I seriously love this bee!<div class="blogger-post-footer">Need more HPQ in your life? <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Stop by</a> for more goodness!</div>audreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14892548773323584333noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4722669456248196153.post-47947344053312547292018-03-07T10:31:00.000-08:002018-03-07T10:31:26.861-08:00Finished Tula Pink Patina Quilt<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
FRIENDS. I am so incredibly pleased to let you know this quilt is DONE. I need only drag it down to the post office and send it to my niece, woo! (And when I say drag, I mean drag. This thing is heavy!) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYuTsxPtEtK4Px2LbuK4hdrphRfIS-n3dXy1niURuA8kOLWYovXUT2i6D7sOpeli92h1QdSe18eRfaEEFPereynmDGKBneDgpPV5zFujEJ5wdp9Rx7O4EChn3IhUKOFoTCkK-SaRcMRE0/s1600/Photo+Mar+05%252C+9+47+55+AM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYuTsxPtEtK4Px2LbuK4hdrphRfIS-n3dXy1niURuA8kOLWYovXUT2i6D7sOpeli92h1QdSe18eRfaEEFPereynmDGKBneDgpPV5zFujEJ5wdp9Rx7O4EChn3IhUKOFoTCkK-SaRcMRE0/s1600/Photo+Mar+05%252C+9+47+55+AM.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
This is the Patina Quilt from Tula Pink and Angela Walters' book, Quilting with Tula and Angela. I had originally intended to echo quilt around each colored bit, but the turning was wreaking absolute havoc on my shoulders, and I wasn't going to be able to finish it! So, I just did the center row, and then I stippled the two ends. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZALGq9_zBxSjeOCMSrUUKxuQjkH81j8y9vZxfXXCz5CeJ59S2XxameUzkv_4EwcF6Cas5imZgCbioyphobBFDlabxmMV9XmK4eQ6AVra4tB1yrcM38exbsNnNGjCyuA8KZoaWInUB_sQ/s1600/Photo+Mar+05%252C+9+48+09+AM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZALGq9_zBxSjeOCMSrUUKxuQjkH81j8y9vZxfXXCz5CeJ59S2XxameUzkv_4EwcF6Cas5imZgCbioyphobBFDlabxmMV9XmK4eQ6AVra4tB1yrcM38exbsNnNGjCyuA8KZoaWInUB_sQ/s1600/Photo+Mar+05%252C+9+48+09+AM.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
For the back, I used a tie-dye flannel because these are my niece's fave colors, and she loves tie-dye! So it was meant to be. However, using this flannel is part of why the quilt was so heavy! It should be nice and comfy for snuggling though. Worth it! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTmUZxKbfhXNx_xSsaiAjwxnJq7QEcJSvnHbY7az-wlDAkP-3z0Hedw3GoSNn06r83Ms2emLomBpX8Xv4r4fHHW_5HEdxvrDtTP6DhDHKuGNSX54l3d-gW9A0-BO_tWvqskI8A0Eca08Q/s1600/Photo+Mar+05%252C+9+48+24+AM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTmUZxKbfhXNx_xSsaiAjwxnJq7QEcJSvnHbY7az-wlDAkP-3z0Hedw3GoSNn06r83Ms2emLomBpX8Xv4r4fHHW_5HEdxvrDtTP6DhDHKuGNSX54l3d-gW9A0-BO_tWvqskI8A0Eca08Q/s1600/Photo+Mar+05%252C+9+48+24+AM.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
For the binding, I used Cotton + Steel's Sprinkles print in navy, plus a hint of lime (Kona Chartreuse, probably). This is my second finish from <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com/2018/01/2018-q1-fal-list.html">my Q1 FAL list</a>, and I am SO excited that it's done! Definitely a win in my book. It will most likely be my last finish from that list, but two is better than none!<br />
<br />
Now, if I can manage to get a few more quilt tops basted, we'll be in business!<div class="blogger-post-footer">Need more HPQ in your life? <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Stop by</a> for more goodness!</div>audreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14892548773323584333noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4722669456248196153.post-8442457828704170522018-02-15T05:49:00.000-08:002018-02-15T05:49:12.250-08:00FF: Magnolia Mystery Quilt Top.This morning, chaos abounds! I set myself a reminder on my phone to email a picture of my finished Magnolia Mystery Quilt top to Cheryl so I could be a part of the parade. I had waited until today to send it, hoping that I would have a finished quilt, but that is not the case! And then, when I went to pull up the photos of this quilt, I realized I 1) can't find the photos I took of the finished top, and 2) I NEVER wrote a blog post about it. #winning!<br />
<br />

<br />
So hooray for me, I managed to squeeze in a small photo shoot amidst homeschooling, and I'm dashing out a quick post before I forget again. I say quick...we'll see if I can tamp down my typical verbose self.<br />
<br />
Here is my finished <a href="http://meadowmistdesigns.blogspot.com/p/magnolia-mystery-quilt.html">Magnolia Mystery Quilt top</a>! Cheryl from Meadow Mist Designs runs a mystery quilt every year, and this is my second time participating in the fun. <br />

<br />
This quilt was a BLAST to piece. Like, I seriously thought to myself multiple times during the process that I was having so much fun, and for a girl in a chaotic season of life, that makes this all the more special. Team that up with the fact that this is destined for a very important person in my life, and I have some serious feels for this quilt.<br />
<br />
I didn't participate in Cheryl's mystery quilt last year, and I kicked myself for that decision. You see, I STILL haven't finished my <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com/2016/01/midnight-mystery-quilt-finished-top.html">Midnight Mystery Quilt</a> from the year before, and I told myself I couldn't until I finished that one. (It's all pieced, I'm just waiting to get it long-armed.) When this year rolled around, I told myself I could, as long as I could find all of the fabric I would need in my stash. And I did! The black batik was a huge piece of fabric a friend gave me a few years ago, the green is a super fun swirl print that I can't remember the name of, though it's quite possibly my favorite blender ever. The turquoise is a mix of an Alison Glass print and a Grunge Dot print, and the purple are two blenders that I had in stash. I have enough of the black to use as binding, and I scored a ridiculously loud print for the back for $2.49/yard, but I think I'll let that be a little surprise. <div class="blogger-post-footer">Need more HPQ in your life? <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Stop by</a> for more goodness!</div>audreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14892548773323584333noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4722669456248196153.post-59093625348453833452018-02-09T06:00:00.000-08:002018-02-09T06:00:15.316-08:00FF: Wayward Transparency Quilt!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I'm pretty sure you've seen fifty kajillion iterations of this quilt because everyone made one, but here's mine! (Of course fifty kajillion iterations were made--this pattern is bomb!) But just in case you haven't seen one, this is the <a href="https://quiltingjetgirl.com/wayward-transparency-quilt-along/">Wayward Transparency Quilt by Quilting Jetgirl</a>, which was part of a super fun awesome QAL. I always love Yvonne's patterns as they are extremely easy to read and understand, and they turn out some super sweet quilts! <br />
<br />

<br />
These photos were taken after the quilt's first wash. I particularly love the crinkly goodness that a spiky meander leaves a quilt. I quilted everything in a mint thread that matches the lightest solid. I was concerned it might be too pronounced on the darker triangles or possibly distort the transparency effect given the quilting design that I had chosen, but now I think it's just fine. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioMDcyMFCoHtsPS2lc6L-fQx9crCOvrkH_niKpSA8TAM2u9FcAPPE_qUn6kFluz-3mZ2aDvlR5Oz6O7jDYnt9przVYYpXzY6JMe64CAb4tIqdhS0egHZSTG1sVvXqymrNkXN-ah6eUotE/s1600/Photo+Feb+03%252C+2+34+00+PM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioMDcyMFCoHtsPS2lc6L-fQx9crCOvrkH_niKpSA8TAM2u9FcAPPE_qUn6kFluz-3mZ2aDvlR5Oz6O7jDYnt9przVYYpXzY6JMe64CAb4tIqdhS0egHZSTG1sVvXqymrNkXN-ah6eUotE/s1600/Photo+Feb+03%252C+2+34+00+PM.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
I did machine stitch down my binding, something I'm choosing to do more and more often now, but this time I used my zigzag stitch. I've done this on a couple of other quilts, but I thought in this case it would particularly suit given the spiky meander. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjG6_gfyDdCJ9eZVVB454N0pIwJ3H5DaDLW4IVZkXLFn_zxqmjFovOT36wqAYe5YKlPGKp-HXo7ykdqKc4sSRHuxWbrg3C4GIGygSLb3x1i6trSxGHRAzio7XCyigHFoJLcVCMsdK8vyQ0/s1600/Photo+Feb+03%252C+10+21+33+AM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjG6_gfyDdCJ9eZVVB454N0pIwJ3H5DaDLW4IVZkXLFn_zxqmjFovOT36wqAYe5YKlPGKp-HXo7ykdqKc4sSRHuxWbrg3C4GIGygSLb3x1i6trSxGHRAzio7XCyigHFoJLcVCMsdK8vyQ0/s1600/Photo+Feb+03%252C+10+21+33+AM.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
And the back is a big chunk of a Joel Dewberry print, plus some scraps I pulled out, including my beloved C+S tigers. I only ever managed to find a fat eighth of that print, and now I'm left with a small scrap, but as this quilt is heading to a super sweet baby boy, I'm happy to share.<br />
<br />
This is my first finish of <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com/2018/01/2018-q1-fal-list.html">my FAL Q1 list</a>, and it's already February! <br />
I finished this dress a few weeks ago, but getting photos taken? Well, that was another matter entirely! This is the <a href="https://www.colettepatterns.com/catalog/moneta">Moneta Dress by Colette</a>. I used a purple knit fabric from Jo-Ann's to make a muslin for this pattern, but of course I hoped that it would be a wearable muslin. I think I have worn this three times since I finished it? So success! Because you see, I have some pink octopi fabric just waiting to be transformed into a super awesome dress! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDXkSbdShbmN828io7OMYznMX266tDXA0pLNZHvwRzU16mAyE8qSIgkVuc3qnm9SzX8_di2w-gsecHpVK_uEBkMAu1Q8IaS64HU-yNnzhoZx3Gju2uiM_SDvGTcOiBi0S8C6FDW3BAJ7k/s1600/Photo+Feb+03%252C+11+44+05+AM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDXkSbdShbmN828io7OMYznMX266tDXA0pLNZHvwRzU16mAyE8qSIgkVuc3qnm9SzX8_di2w-gsecHpVK_uEBkMAu1Q8IaS64HU-yNnzhoZx3Gju2uiM_SDvGTcOiBi0S8C6FDW3BAJ7k/s1600/Photo+Feb+03%252C+11+44+05+AM.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
The Moneta pattern was easy to follow, and the dress came together easily. The only area I struggled was the neckline. It was hard to get that to lay flat! (This is a complaint that I've heard from a couple of people, so if any of y'all have made this pattern and have any advice, help a girl out!) <br />
<br />
Before I cut into my octopi, I think I'll try a size down. This feels a little big to me, particularly in the arms. But I do love it! And I'm excited to add more Monetas to my closet.<br />
<br />
Oh! And tell me! Are there any knit patterns you particularly like? I've got a few things from <a href="http://www.patternsforpirates.com/">Patterns for Pirates</a> on my list. <div class="blogger-post-footer">Need more HPQ in your life? <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Stop by</a> for more goodness!</div>audreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14892548773323584333noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4722669456248196153.post-52381462751427045062018-01-16T06:00:00.000-08:002018-01-16T06:00:50.389-08:00Lito's Quilt.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
My middle son has finished his first quilt! We used fabric from the collection Little Kukla by <a href="https://www.suzyultman.com/">Suzy Ultman</a>, backed it with an Alison Glass print and used a gray Kona solid (steel, maybe?) for the binding.<br />
<br />
I bought these fabrics early in my quilting tenure, when I used very little self-control when it came to fun novelty prints. I'm proud to say I have a bit more self-control now and occasionally even buy blenders and solids! But I had a half yard of each print hanging around in stash, and Lito liked them, so we cut 6" strips and sewed them together, easy peasy.<br />
<br />

<br />
We had a ball working on this! It was so much fun, and to see my kidlet so excited about quilting made my heart super happy. I don't think quilting will surpass his love of Legos, at least for now, but I'm thrilled I got to share one of my favorite things with one of my favorite people!<br />
<br />
We debated gifting this to his younger sister, but since she's not exactly lacking in the quilt department, we ultimately decided that this lovely will be headed for <a href="http://projectlinus.org/">Project Linus</a>.<br />
<br />
And hopefully Banzo and I will finish up his quilt soon, and you'll get to see that one as well! Spoiler alert: it has monkeys! <div class="blogger-post-footer">Need more HPQ in your life? <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Stop by</a> for more goodness!</div>audreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14892548773323584333noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4722669456248196153.post-4497718857252957902018-01-12T13:16:00.000-08:002018-03-07T10:32:19.616-08:002018 Q1 FAL list. <br />
Last year, I helped start a traveling quilt bee called the #coasttocoasttravelingbee. Along with five other super awesome quilters, we stretched our skillz to the max and produced six super awesome quilt tops. (<a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com/2017/12/coast-to-coast-traveling-bee-my-quilt.html">Here's mine</a>!) I had such an amazing time, and it was pretty obvious that C2C had to happen again!<br />
<br />
My 2017 quilt top was inspired by a mountain range, and it was fun to create based on a place. (I had never made a quilt like that before!) I had thought at first that I would use water (particularly in the form of rain) as the base for this year's quilt, but my initial work following that pursuit was...um...bleh. And not me at all! And you know how sometimes it's good to do things you're uncomfortable with and push yourself to try new color schemes/techniques/things? Well, this wasn't any of those things. It was just bleh.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisXDWlzn_chc34lMYuUnI68VIGW4L95fFOK53pF5c2XmQv-5HG3Bdm0tQ_U-BrzzOVaDfednaCgGKmZal1huu8E6J2vNmKQUM8BhyphenhyphenGxqn-D-UBXVlO5-Kmy7WvE2QeoVSwMm06tFimCA8/s1600/Photo+Dec+20%252C+11+54+04+AM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisXDWlzn_chc34lMYuUnI68VIGW4L95fFOK53pF5c2XmQv-5HG3Bdm0tQ_U-BrzzOVaDfednaCgGKmZal1huu8E6J2vNmKQUM8BhyphenhyphenGxqn-D-UBXVlO5-Kmy7WvE2QeoVSwMm06tFimCA8/s1600/Photo+Dec+20%252C+11+54+04+AM.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
At this point, I had a couple of weeks to produce something worthy of this year's C2C group. After spending MONTHS laboring over the water/rain idea, I searched through my folder of quilt ideas/patterns/inspiration, desperate for something.<br />
<br />
And then I saw these awesome <a href="https://lillyella.com/2015/09/02/butterfly-charm-block-paper-piecing-patterns/">Butterfly Charm Blocks</a> from lillyella. And they'd looked pretty fun, and what if I did a rainbow? So I did.<br />
<br />
At first I'd planned to make 9 and then do a nine-patch grouping, but after talking with K, she suggested maybe a ring of butterflies would be awesome. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOux2If-buuIQRo67JXQdNMucMntRjgfBwT4dLqCdbfkkrlYC_Ica5FSFgjIyL2Mb_F9IX6y4Olc2Epw81l0pFKehIXbRZHhFvd1nWD_EV3OJ5sMuMB1jkphQrzeQQCA5abartMs_lKwU/s1600/Photo+Jan+08%252C+11+06+09+AM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOux2If-buuIQRo67JXQdNMucMntRjgfBwT4dLqCdbfkkrlYC_Ica5FSFgjIyL2Mb_F9IX6y4Olc2Epw81l0pFKehIXbRZHhFvd1nWD_EV3OJ5sMuMB1jkphQrzeQQCA5abartMs_lKwU/s1600/Photo+Jan+08%252C+11+06+09+AM.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
And I was like, <i>I have this nine-patch idea cemented into my brain! I can't betray that! And besides, it's going to look fierce!</i> And then I laid out a ring of butterflies as K suggested, and it looked AWESOME (and meant less paper piecing) and how could I say NO? <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This is what I've sent to the always fab <a href="https://littlebunnyquilts.blogspot.com/">Alison</a>, along with some rainbow goodness. Yes, please, butterfly charm blocks. YES, PLEASE.<br />
<br />
Who wants to guess what will get added? I'm SO excited to see where this group of awesome quilters will go! <div class="blogger-post-footer">Need more HPQ in your life? <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Stop by</a> for more goodness!</div>audreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14892548773323584333noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4722669456248196153.post-45298368874947781032018-01-08T06:00:00.000-08:002018-01-08T06:00:00.279-08:00Tula Pink Patina Quilt Top<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Friend, <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com/2017/08/patina-quilt-start.html">last time</a> we chatted about this Patina Quilt project from the book <a href="http://www.tulapink.com/quilt-with-tula-and-angela/">Quilt with Tula and Angela</a>, I had just begun piecing all of the strips. There was piecing, then more piecing, then more piecing! All.The.Piecing. By the time I finished piecing, I was thoroughly OVER IT, but then I sat back and looked at it and ooohed at the prettiness of it all.<br />
<br />
I took this photo back in SEPTEMBER. I basted it in October. I started quilting it in November. And then I'd work on it between holiday gift-making and holiday prep, and then, just when I thought I could start working on it again with some serious dedication, I wrenched my shoulder somehow, and wrestling with this lovely and my sewing machine, Stella, seemed like a terrible idea. (And I found out it was because I'm stubborn and didn't want to be inconvenienced by hurt shoulders so I sewed anyway, and after ten inches, my shoulders were a world of pain, so I stopped and crashed on my couch with a heat pad.)<br />
<br />
My shoulders are feeling (mostly) better now, though I'll admit that I'm hesitant to pick this quilt up again just yet as I don't want to re-injure them! But hopefully I'll be able to get er' done soon. As of right now, I'd say I'm about 1/3 done with the quilting, which I'm calling a MAJOR success. <br />
<br />
This bomb cyclone thing and its terrible weather rendered us housebound for a few days, and while that was super lame, I *did* manage to get another quilt not only basted, but quilted! The binding is even picked out--though not prepared--so hopefully I'll be sharing that with you soon. <div class="blogger-post-footer">Need more HPQ in your life? <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Stop by</a> for more goodness!</div>audreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14892548773323584333noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4722669456248196153.post-36009522110196469942017-12-27T04:00:00.000-08:002017-12-27T04:00:22.263-08:00Quilting with My Kids<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I have four children. This is certainly not new information to y'all, though sometimes I admit that I'm still a little surprised by it. (I have FOUR children? When did that happen?) And as y'all can probably imagine, keeping four littles entertained/occupied is a challenge, especially if this mama wants to sneak in a bit of sewing.<br />
<br />
Enter: The Design Wall. I grab my carefully color-coded, super fancy ziploc bags of scraps, dump out a bag or two, and let them go wild designing. We've made a handful of placemats in this fashion, and let me tell you, scrap placemats are a great FMQ practice canvas. :) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHxrXTLuhRckZrgqPq1jPOMG-HT3iimGhRBjhvbWXjiZODwb3aBCODwIbk3GKml8JREbaa0Z5qEUcACjN4RFMQX8WMz7g87svvnShxzsF55a_ZoOckKm0zagMFLfPUnxGtSO7LpU3MmUY/s1600/Photo+Nov+22%252C+1+32+07+PM+%25281%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHxrXTLuhRckZrgqPq1jPOMG-HT3iimGhRBjhvbWXjiZODwb3aBCODwIbk3GKml8JREbaa0Z5qEUcACjN4RFMQX8WMz7g87svvnShxzsF55a_ZoOckKm0zagMFLfPUnxGtSO7LpU3MmUY/s1600/Photo+Nov+22%252C+1+32+07+PM+%25281%2529.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
And while I have been doing the sewing while the kids have been the design team, my second son told me a few months ago that he would like to make a quilt. My oldest heard this request and decided that he too would like to make one. I searched through my stash and secured our supplies, and we went to work. (For the record, I did not let my five- and seven-year-olds cut the fabric. I can imagine them brandishing my rotary cutter as a pirate sword with disastrous results.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwDpjy__KTAhmV4smOq6u-XFpdZMiHPTWxcCXZtBPXW_ClqzDAQWj6Vbp_fqNqBJKyVWfUxMaTWF-mpeMUTFf01qgolybGLVABCSwNzOse8OqlkcLCJ0jcLz3GR6aDtqHbdeJSm9F38Uk/s1600/Photo+Nov+16%252C+1+23+57+PM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwDpjy__KTAhmV4smOq6u-XFpdZMiHPTWxcCXZtBPXW_ClqzDAQWj6Vbp_fqNqBJKyVWfUxMaTWF-mpeMUTFf01qgolybGLVABCSwNzOse8OqlkcLCJ0jcLz3GR6aDtqHbdeJSm9F38Uk/s1600/Photo+Nov+16%252C+1+23+57+PM.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
Since this is really their first major foray into sewing, I kept it simple, and we just did row quilts. The nesting dolls is my five-year-old's offering. (He sat on my lap and guided the fabric as I controlled the foot pedal. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYV2yv0Ev1xkKkWniPSMFKeIUo80MVLtVh1ESjxEVhJYeBwfgw3oRnrTafLo_kFigPZTkaGkrQBKbLNsnyZCvo64syKWRpwVUUVukrwQQaAxMNx01ECgFjOJpHcBD0qX4HXc98GJI5roE/s1600/Photo+Nov+27%252C+1+52+45+PM+%25281%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYV2yv0Ev1xkKkWniPSMFKeIUo80MVLtVh1ESjxEVhJYeBwfgw3oRnrTafLo_kFigPZTkaGkrQBKbLNsnyZCvo64syKWRpwVUUVukrwQQaAxMNx01ECgFjOJpHcBD0qX4HXc98GJI5roE/s1600/Photo+Nov+27%252C+1+52+45+PM+%25281%2529.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
And after he helped me sew a row or two, my seven-year-old did all of the fabric guiding, though I did control the pedal still, but only because his legs aren't long enough.<br />
<br />
So far, they've helped with every aspect except the cutting, and I intend for them to help with the remaining tasks. However, we've had a hold up in the basting stage that is all my fault as almost every single basting pin I own is currently keeping my Patina quilt in a yummy quilt sandwich. Speaking of that Patina quilt, I should really give y'all an update on it! Soon, lovely readers, soon.<br />
<br />
Do you sew with your kids? Any tips for me? I never realized how difficult a beginner could have sewing a consistent 1/4" seam! <div class="blogger-post-footer">Need more HPQ in your life? <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Stop by</a> for more goodness!</div>audreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14892548773323584333noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4722669456248196153.post-23457139851759285012017-12-21T06:00:00.000-08:002017-12-21T06:00:41.716-08:00Coast to Coast Traveling Bee--My Quilt Top!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Friends, have we talked about how great the Coast to Coast Traveling Bee is? Have we talked about my very serious love for it? Yes? Well, in case you are unaware, this bee is AMAZING. I had so much fun participating this year, and I am eager to start the 2018 round off. (Okay, not TOTALLY eager as I've yet to finish piecing my top, but you get the point!)<br />
<br />
The mountain centerpiece above is where my quilt started. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7dVMRs7cDQSkKM41UDKjLNM2FmkcWOJkyyK6y7Akn10vKYzDQjOy3BPH8-KjzCi_NU6UIFiITjvRaEswo4_y7DY2OsTsHTFfbzDMLWPVeXbl4AP9S7N3YYl8EI4j3gRspgvU6TmXav64/s1600/Photo+Aug+05%252C+4+32+47+PM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7dVMRs7cDQSkKM41UDKjLNM2FmkcWOJkyyK6y7Akn10vKYzDQjOy3BPH8-KjzCi_NU6UIFiITjvRaEswo4_y7DY2OsTsHTFfbzDMLWPVeXbl4AP9S7N3YYl8EI4j3gRspgvU6TmXav64/s1600/Photo+Aug+05%252C+4+32+47+PM.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
And this is what I got in return. SO FREAKING AWESOME, right?<br />
<br />
Right.<br />
<br />This bad boy is totally getting the handquilting treatment. You know, when I finished up the other five quilt tops laying around my house at present. (FIVE? YIKES!) <br />
<br />
Now, I'm off to work on paper-piecing my start for round two, aka C2C2. <div class="blogger-post-footer">Need more HPQ in your life? <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Stop by</a> for more goodness!</div>audreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14892548773323584333noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4722669456248196153.post-27843551402424524362017-12-18T14:05:00.000-08:002017-12-18T14:05:06.613-08:00Rainbow Mini QuiltWe'll just gloss over the fact that I've been gone for like three months, mmmkay? Because it essentially boils down to four kids, homeschooling two of them, lots of husband-being-out-of-town, computer problems, Christmas planning, swimming lessons, gymnastics classes, and the occasional sewing. The good news is that I have a healthy backlog of things to share with you, and I'll hopefully have time to get a few posts up, woo! </image><br />

<br />
Like a million years ago, I pieced <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com/2017/03/coast-to-coast-traveling-bee-quilt-2.html">some half-dresdens for a quilt</a> I made for Susan for the Coast to Coast Traveling Bee. (Spoiler alert: C2C will be starting again soon! Also, just realized I never shared my finished quilt top, which is a total SHAME because it's amazing. Gotta remedy that soon.)<br />
<br />

<br />
I had planned to make this mini for me. But the farther along I got in the planning process, the more I felt like this would make a super sweet birthday present for my awesome friend, K, soooooo...<br />
<br />

<br />
I finished it up and sent it her way. I hand quilted this using Aurifil 12 wt. thread with the exception of the white which is a DMC perl cotton. Fabrics were from stash.<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1r3QPbeWxbAx533tq6wLkL28w0ePWvp_QwrMAZiqAuec3Hx1FjMbeGQoVpW_T1HdF73K8SMTlcMeCCAI51dfCia6b8h8c5HMTRQ1ooqgfcsAF4QR2dAD8KMNWI9t6wih58rQ8WamaYKw/s1600/241-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1r3QPbeWxbAx533tq6wLkL28w0ePWvp_QwrMAZiqAuec3Hx1FjMbeGQoVpW_T1HdF73K8SMTlcMeCCAI51dfCia6b8h8c5HMTRQ1ooqgfcsAF4QR2dAD8KMNWI9t6wih58rQ8WamaYKw/s1600/241-1.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
They said it couldn't be done, but did I prove them wrong? OH! Absolutely.<br />
<br />
I made a bag other than a 241 tote. Who knew? <br />
<br />
This is the <a href="https://noodle-head.com/2015/12/carkai-gatherer-crossbody-bag.html">Gatherer Crossbody Bag</a>, and it's a pattern from the same designer as the 241 tote, Anna Graham of Noodlehead. Like the 241, the directions are super bomb. I feel like this bag came together a lot faster than the 241--but that could be because there were no zipper installations. Though there was piping, and that was a new adventure...hmmm...I don't know. All that to say, this pattern was super cool, and it's FREE, so there you go. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggmfVq7Gc4ew2vwzryHnIs8S_d_zLMnGklsFWI5CPpXpb7VvR5Si0MxR3y5A44KIVZcGkw2QTNdpuDrrjjjpaAHvJzlj79RTPgH6sr75LNf3OnZK6tWD-ZBbpfQNa_1aJBlfI_Ai56jVg/s1600/241-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggmfVq7Gc4ew2vwzryHnIs8S_d_zLMnGklsFWI5CPpXpb7VvR5Si0MxR3y5A44KIVZcGkw2QTNdpuDrrjjjpaAHvJzlj79RTPgH6sr75LNf3OnZK6tWD-ZBbpfQNa_1aJBlfI_Ai56jVg/s1600/241-2.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
I did make a few modifications to this bag. I actually increased the size of the pattern pieces, though I couldn't tell you how much as I have no clue! But it makes for a bigger bag, which is sweet. I used a magnetic closure instead of the leather/button combination. I used canvas for the exterior (<a href="http://www.hawthornethreads.com/fabric/designer/lizzy_house/printmaking_canvas/nosara_canvas_in_blue">Lizzy House's Nosara Canvas in Blue</a>) and a quilting cotton for the interior and extra details (<a href="http://www.hawthornethreads.com/fabric/designer/laura_gunn/painters_canvas/painters_canvas_in_lagoon">Laura Gunn's Painter's Canvas</a>...probably in Lagoon). Finally, we opted for a 1.5" strap sewn into the lining rather than the super cute (but not as durable) thin strap. <br />
<br />
See, this is a replacement bag for a friend who wore the last bag I made for her into ruin. You might think that's an over-exaggeration, but trust me, it's time for <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com/2015/01/ff-another-241-tote.html">that 241 Tote</a> to be retired. It has given more than any bag should ever have to give! And this new bag has been made to hold up for just as long, and hopefully longer. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVFbu4KcHmclXheLwNgj4fyGqA-Xhb7atoP9FFdJHuukNnCyUPE7l8SQfouRG1cOvmg4JsoYa8-phzkEvhO7T_drMyx1xtR0U2SOcccr80GQ9TFSvLXCKJNFQcftM3YvBbd7qhA2VUH0A/s1600/241-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVFbu4KcHmclXheLwNgj4fyGqA-Xhb7atoP9FFdJHuukNnCyUPE7l8SQfouRG1cOvmg4JsoYa8-phzkEvhO7T_drMyx1xtR0U2SOcccr80GQ9TFSvLXCKJNFQcftM3YvBbd7qhA2VUH0A/s1600/241-3.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
I sewed the bag up, but the strap was much too short, so I performed a bit of surgery, and now it's all gravy. Bonus, I found a way to get to the post office this afternoon, so as we speak, it is on the way.<br />
<br />
This was a super fun bag to sew up, and I have fabric cut and prepped for another one--this time for me! <div class="blogger-post-footer">Need more HPQ in your life? <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Stop by</a> for more goodness!</div>audreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14892548773323584333noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4722669456248196153.post-81528876492228270482017-08-14T05:30:00.000-07:002017-08-14T05:30:13.845-07:00Patina Quilt Start<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQNP-RWdDCCgOcfsIhJonC-kz655gP6_5ADcI7vQfdni6YLXLrai6uqSAPgYkUqNAXVNYmdoTzr_sAMUqRAppQJM8uivM5mPV9RaPQClApjYj0qTfWgBq56IVSHdTPFP3DCstwSudHYio/s1600/patina1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQNP-RWdDCCgOcfsIhJonC-kz655gP6_5ADcI7vQfdni6YLXLrai6uqSAPgYkUqNAXVNYmdoTzr_sAMUqRAppQJM8uivM5mPV9RaPQClApjYj0qTfWgBq56IVSHdTPFP3DCstwSudHYio/s1600/patina1.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
My oldest niece just had her Bat Mitzvah. (And if I may say so, she totally rocked it.) In the eyes of the Jewish community, she is now a woman. Cue Audrey freaking out. How do I have a niece that old?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-jd7ZA_uvUQNhccIrRRBzN750MVyMVShKXghGqfWnJ0D6EqAfzTRsydZ6hxeE6u0eERJlHH-gMQ2DKMi-HtSUXDNvzKQgeQKJp6cV7Fx19Rt6IW4bx7a7Z9WcjDRg6TFVW13Mx2YTY6E/s1600/patina2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-jd7ZA_uvUQNhccIrRRBzN750MVyMVShKXghGqfWnJ0D6EqAfzTRsydZ6hxeE6u0eERJlHH-gMQ2DKMi-HtSUXDNvzKQgeQKJp6cV7Fx19Rt6IW4bx7a7Z9WcjDRg6TFVW13Mx2YTY6E/s1600/patina2.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
And just how am I going to celebrate such a momentous occasion? You can probably guess, but just in case you're still waking up because it's Monday morning--oh it's Monday morning over here all right--I'm making her a quilt! Because it's one of those "go big or go home" kind of moments, I've chosen to make her a twin-size beauty of a quilt, the Patina quilt from Tula Pink and Angela Walter's book, <a href="http://www.tulapink.com/quilt-with-tula-and-angela/">Quilt with Tula and Angela</a>. <br />
<br />
I sent my niece 5-6 different quilt patterns that I thought she might like, and I was so excited when she chose the Patina quilt because it's the one I thought she might pick. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRjRxMuufFhBcQT7FEMibTdtiePT2-_J-_Ek7sp1xUtTmYLtRUQDyjA5c4Qt5xe29xR9-O-a6pYx2kAjOHian5aVo7krB_1EU24xee2Y5HIj-a-nzwhlzfwIhFfmHqJT7Mofgj-vflVu8/s1600/patina3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRjRxMuufFhBcQT7FEMibTdtiePT2-_J-_Ek7sp1xUtTmYLtRUQDyjA5c4Qt5xe29xR9-O-a6pYx2kAjOHian5aVo7krB_1EU24xee2Y5HIj-a-nzwhlzfwIhFfmHqJT7Mofgj-vflVu8/s1600/patina3.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
I have already used my seam ripper more than I would like to admit. I keep sewing the wrong colors to the wrong colors! But when you're dealing with 13 different fabrics and something between 500 and 600 rectangles, well, it's understandable that mistakes do occur. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZYp1HkXkbqNNT11efcyMRwWtGkH14NB9sBQyLOzLms1mh9tbb-fzv_ruL65JQImWtse-ffAFo2VQs8jRaFWloiDdAMLZop5EPD2Bu42c3q29WgtiVwbQdpO7EteWjbXv5T-1MFtE1JRg/s1600/patina4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZYp1HkXkbqNNT11efcyMRwWtGkH14NB9sBQyLOzLms1mh9tbb-fzv_ruL65JQImWtse-ffAFo2VQs8jRaFWloiDdAMLZop5EPD2Bu42c3q29WgtiVwbQdpO7EteWjbXv5T-1MFtE1JRg/s1600/patina4.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
I've chosen to use Kona solids for this quilt project, and I have this soft tie-dye flannel to back it with. (I actually bought the flannel before I bought the solids.) We're going with a color scheme very close to the original as my niece really liked it. I've finished sewing up my strip As and my strip Bs and I'm almost through my strip Cs. I hope to have a finished quilt top soon.<br />
<br />

Chelsea had sent along some Alison Glass charms and some oh-so lovely blocks utilizing AG fabric, asking for additional blocks for a super fun sampler. This was my last quilt project from the bee--other than finishing up my own quilt, of course--and it's sad to think we are done for the year. I had hoped this bee would be totally wicked awesome with some totally wicked awesome peeps, and it was that and so much more.<br />

I referenced <a href="http://www.genxquilters.com/p/quilt-block-library.html">the block library</a> at Gen X Quilters, and I picked out a handful of blocks I thought would make fun contributions to this project. This is my personal favorite, the <a href="http://laineybugdesigns.blogspot.com/2011/08/modern-star-block-tutorial.html">Modern Star</a> from LaineyBug Designs. <br />

I made a couple of small filler blocks as well and sent it all off. Here is a shot of Chelsea's blocks all together--I'm eager to see what this finished top will look like!<br />

C2C is already planning for next year--at least one of the peeps has already bought fabric!! The rumblings of an idea are starting to take shape, and thankfully I have some time to let them mature. I hope to have one more C2C post for this year--one full of finishes! (Or at least finished tops...) <div class="blogger-post-footer">Need more HPQ in your life? <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Stop by</a> for more goodness!</div>audreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14892548773323584333noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4722669456248196153.post-80383392604364985542017-07-23T16:28:00.001-07:002017-07-23T16:28:05.506-07:00July. (So far.) <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7b1xCvbuFcWl52nFDWmynDs6D9DRpplnEOOAR2V49tDSHPoiPxk60dPkgyowX7zo4fIYV0LKKIMtl9X1OLqEpf3W9wa-YO4b6UCfGoqn0Dpp2UwApk00dxMAagujTdluyeBBDZQpGlsE/s1600/bonnet.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7b1xCvbuFcWl52nFDWmynDs6D9DRpplnEOOAR2V49tDSHPoiPxk60dPkgyowX7zo4fIYV0LKKIMtl9X1OLqEpf3W9wa-YO4b6UCfGoqn0Dpp2UwApk00dxMAagujTdluyeBBDZQpGlsE/s1600/bonnet.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
This month has flown by, and oy, I've been busy! There hasn't been a lot of sewing time, and I've neglected to blog, a state that probably won't be changing any time soon. With my fourth year of homeschooling on the horizon, I've been knee deep in curriculum choices, co-op decisions, and training to be a substitute tutor at our co-op. We start in less than a month! I've also been hard at work editing my second book, which is coming along slowly but surely. You might think I'd be exhausted, and I am a little, but I'm also oh-so excited, especially now that the most stressful bits are hopefully past.<br />
<br />
I did sneak in a bit of sewing, including this super cute <a href="https://www.purlsoho.com/create/2014/04/08/corinnes-thread-baby-sunbonnet/">sunbonnet</a> for my daughter. Of course, Vanilla wants nothing to do with it, probably because it's a bit too big, but hopefully she'll love it soon. The fabric is leftover from a dress that was made for my niece. Using scraps always makes me remember good things. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNvIGd-A8Y5znyCiHQ65ZqKO6JJ_1435oYo8yQlIStwhwZnsNdh33868lu76dULPIUoj0e4tdrIJBvrxcDPej8K5CETuzOwf945QNQbai4FLu2aLVgRPOFywg7XBPP5iKS8ZopHPgro6Q/s1600/pinafore.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNvIGd-A8Y5znyCiHQ65ZqKO6JJ_1435oYo8yQlIStwhwZnsNdh33868lu76dULPIUoj0e4tdrIJBvrxcDPej8K5CETuzOwf945QNQbai4FLu2aLVgRPOFywg7XBPP5iKS8ZopHPgro6Q/s1600/pinafore.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
I also finished up a <a href="http://smashedpeasandcarrots.com/little-girls-crossover-pinafore-pattern-and-tutorial/">pinafore</a> and have fabric cut for a second one. This was my first time sewing with rayon, and while it wasn't the easiest to work with, I made it through! It is definitely not the best fabric to use for a pinafore, but it is super soft and comfy. It just doesn't do much to retain the shape. This pinafore is lined in a yummy shot cotton. Next up, we'll see how a voile and quilting cotton combo work out! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCZWIdodJWdwYNILu8HDgYxMDEa4B3TqU4Lt7_qTUlft-_Lf9GkK3UHGdqaz1GluOo5faUyRdO2yO7K980aBow1L1rcq8y4cYIitCProW9rElOcj5JigcXA4xaPQEWo5xiLXK8ukm8O4g/s1600/starwars.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCZWIdodJWdwYNILu8HDgYxMDEa4B3TqU4Lt7_qTUlft-_Lf9GkK3UHGdqaz1GluOo5faUyRdO2yO7K980aBow1L1rcq8y4cYIitCProW9rElOcj5JigcXA4xaPQEWo5xiLXK8ukm8O4g/s1600/starwars.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
And I've finished up two Star Wars pillowcases for my big boys. Of course, Fava is now asking for his own Star Wars pillowcase. I should've anticipated this, but honestly, I didn't think a two-year-old would be that concerned about a pillowcase. Alas, he is, and back to the store for more fabric, but this time, enough for two as my nephew needs one as well! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQaMGlF741tDkiV5G5M_8MlgvJa8SqO-9-Y6YBV-ZLxQioRXNhulXhvYFmGw4FvTIEYmKGszY1FaN9p3lIGCh5s5aeOPWFfMqXNr-_B82rIqkSlC0lkqgGFdj60avfIoLl1WABMs20dac/s1600/fabric.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQaMGlF741tDkiV5G5M_8MlgvJa8SqO-9-Y6YBV-ZLxQioRXNhulXhvYFmGw4FvTIEYmKGszY1FaN9p3lIGCh5s5aeOPWFfMqXNr-_B82rIqkSlC0lkqgGFdj60avfIoLl1WABMs20dac/s1600/fabric.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
But I think more exciting than those finishes are the fabric pulls I've had the delightful pleasure of assembling recently. This is for a Patina quilt from Tula Pink and Angela Walters' book. I'll be making it for my niece, and it's a big one! I better get cutting. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOW26YYawsns1OryomPdpqO6VMLnMnLfCqBXID1DdYVNZ4qpMSGQH7V467vBx8wPW0E21-mXODOMAUsZqRmtELB0AqIJao5icbcjkEsTYWldXqGUhUSfmXUP67avu-49I0cSCwaSVOYHs/s1600/fabric.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOW26YYawsns1OryomPdpqO6VMLnMnLfCqBXID1DdYVNZ4qpMSGQH7V467vBx8wPW0E21-mXODOMAUsZqRmtELB0AqIJao5icbcjkEsTYWldXqGUhUSfmXUP67avu-49I0cSCwaSVOYHs/s1600/fabric.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
And the start of the fabric pull for my Magnolia Mystery quilt. I need a bit more lime, but I think it's a fun blend. Thankfully I had a big piece of that black batik chilling in my stash. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmH4hWCDHm314I3GFgGRElQ99i-kAHIgWzJ_ilyWe3b5jgG-ntD1xCKJ8FUGGmCmnfqG3kV6E6pxdF3KSlUdu7Y_lLLXXW0roOY9D4XQjLvMZPgUMc86nT4Wj7JDb2XurQCNrii65GOF4/s1600/fabric.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmH4hWCDHm314I3GFgGRElQ99i-kAHIgWzJ_ilyWe3b5jgG-ntD1xCKJ8FUGGmCmnfqG3kV6E6pxdF3KSlUdu7Y_lLLXXW0roOY9D4XQjLvMZPgUMc86nT4Wj7JDb2XurQCNrii65GOF4/s1600/fabric.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
Finally, some yummy Alison Glass for the Coast to Coast Traveling Bee, which is on its last rotation. A couple of people have actually gotten their quilt tops back already, and if you've been following me on instagram, you'll know I've put together a few blocks. You also might know that my quilt top is done, and it's a beauty! <br />
<br />
I feel like I have so much more to share with you, but that'll have to do for now as it's bedtime and two little boys are waiting for tuck-in service. Goodnight, y'all. <div class="blogger-post-footer">Need more HPQ in your life? <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Stop by</a> for more goodness!</div>audreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14892548773323584333noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4722669456248196153.post-40865431798326681682017-06-28T03:30:00.000-07:002017-06-28T03:30:22.579-07:00Baby P's Quilt<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I finished A QUILT. That's right! I still make those! Baby P's Quilt is done, and none too soon. (Baby P was only born three or so months ago!) So I'm a wee bit late! But if I tell myself that I want to give it to him in person when I see him in a few weeks, well, then, I've finished with plenty of time to spare.<br />
<br />
This quilt took a hard left turn from the original design/idea. And then, just when I thought I'd settled on another idea, it decided to veer left again. This spot we've arrived at? Well, it may not look it, but it's definitely a stretch for me. I don't usually make quilts like this. Cool colors? Loads of negative space? I know a ton of quilters will laugh at me, but that kind of business is utterly terrifying for me. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4EuMYfbDQkRb1-OHdCRHB3nSkXxBYxWussqHu8PBte6ooU9Fby8tqB3Teyesz-t3yp8_iW7NoGZ_zDpGmrZ-8h0nLjz4bTkMsbczsv9KzEQBvpPf4vfnYlUVETB8aKeavXH78MnssANo/s1600/finish2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4EuMYfbDQkRb1-OHdCRHB3nSkXxBYxWussqHu8PBte6ooU9Fby8tqB3Teyesz-t3yp8_iW7NoGZ_zDpGmrZ-8h0nLjz4bTkMsbczsv9KzEQBvpPf4vfnYlUVETB8aKeavXH78MnssANo/s1600/finish2.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
And I made this quilt with the intention of stretching myself. It's just, what I didn't realize was, my sewing time has become seriously limited. It's a decision that I've come to for myself, and it's a good decision, but it means that when I *do* have sewing time, I don't want to spend it stretching myself. I want to spend it making something I can get very very excited about. And while I don't hate this quilt or dislike it by any means, it doesn't feel very Audrey to me. (Okay, the quilting totally feels Audrey to me, and I fought that urge too, exploring two other possible quilting ideas that would be even more of a stretch, but ultimately returning to a scheme I knew I would like and could execute. I'm happy I did.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPpCCuA5ZD-JUdT1ghAW9wIUA8GC1cZcGbTL63tHoUqPPapDYBKSjOdEQgD_HinfjyNlSCDmTPW8uoUWAOXmjcw8daaW3c1X38kaxykCzbkIiGAdBnWnw0VAyLf0CKJjuzGLS9z8nOFps/s1600/finish3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPpCCuA5ZD-JUdT1ghAW9wIUA8GC1cZcGbTL63tHoUqPPapDYBKSjOdEQgD_HinfjyNlSCDmTPW8uoUWAOXmjcw8daaW3c1X38kaxykCzbkIiGAdBnWnw0VAyLf0CKJjuzGLS9z8nOFps/s1600/finish3.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
For the back, I used a charcoal kona solid. I had originally planned to use this as the back when my color pull was white, gray, black, red, orange, and mint with just a hint of pink, but it still worked even after transitioning to a mint/blue/green combo. I used the same mint thread for both my top and bottom threads. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipRHaGs8C58eehSME3n-6d-DxoAbJ_KSv-jStQ2HOM3eKQ07OUg_ntMS_NxIcLVRVL5MALMhFzq7UNlBjXEz9Uy1bNznXtiWUMYkspbNT2n2uloXRvIYtkt0DteOMJzA86_uCF9U0cdfg/s1600/finish4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipRHaGs8C58eehSME3n-6d-DxoAbJ_KSv-jStQ2HOM3eKQ07OUg_ntMS_NxIcLVRVL5MALMhFzq7UNlBjXEz9Uy1bNznXtiWUMYkspbNT2n2uloXRvIYtkt0DteOMJzA86_uCF9U0cdfg/s1600/finish4.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
And for the binding, I used the same kona mint solid and went with a machine bound zigzag finish. <br />
<br />
This is my final finish from <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com/2017/04/q2-2017-fal-list.html">my Q2 FAL list</a>. I completed everything on my (short) list! But since I've never finished an entire list before, I'm extremely pleased with this accomplishment. <div class="blogger-post-footer">Need more HPQ in your life? <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Stop by</a> for more goodness!</div>audreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14892548773323584333noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4722669456248196153.post-32888642765455944202017-06-27T12:16:00.000-07:002017-06-27T12:16:54.362-07:00Felicity Dress in Lawn<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Finish #2 from the <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com/2017/04/q2-2017-fal-list.html">Q2 FAL</a> is my Felicity Dress in Lawn. I used a Cotton + Steel lawn (I believe the collection was Hatbox?) for my dress, and it was a lesson in making do, let me tell you. But now it's done, and I love my dress!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiciKUEr6Yr_TFCG0gcJSosHILyRiv1MVWxG16foMGdmc_A3pdvEiDkJ08t5BhBwlCuGIYzCTU3EawC9yxrLPXLaLiwKzQRiXK5wdGpT8ciJlUjH4X53eVpkmEEewpH1TGo2yHDTZ0hTY4/s1600/finish2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiciKUEr6Yr_TFCG0gcJSosHILyRiv1MVWxG16foMGdmc_A3pdvEiDkJ08t5BhBwlCuGIYzCTU3EawC9yxrLPXLaLiwKzQRiXK5wdGpT8ciJlUjH4X53eVpkmEEewpH1TGo2yHDTZ0hTY4/s1600/finish2.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
I originally finished off the neckline, but it didn't sit right, so I had to rip everything out and begin again. It was totally the right call, but ugh. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW6u9_dy0Z9_fil1uNgB_EHAW40WeXZgX-JjtEWvl9hRGJetH4yIAk_ZY25OkobTQPpiG9pZvzU3_J7_X2ivvFPBRi28TiPIpikPgLgBdRzsINb5HtoZ17DC2x_V95PFy2-kP3mMAj1KY/s1600/finish3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW6u9_dy0Z9_fil1uNgB_EHAW40WeXZgX-JjtEWvl9hRGJetH4yIAk_ZY25OkobTQPpiG9pZvzU3_J7_X2ivvFPBRi28TiPIpikPgLgBdRzsINb5HtoZ17DC2x_V95PFy2-kP3mMAj1KY/s1600/finish3.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
I didn't have *quite* enough fabric, so I had to use something else for my pockets. This is some sort of Kona solid that is actually a really pale blue. I had it on hand, it was the perfect amount of material, it worked. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0E5IQY1nL-0u1K6HNHxpqGm3KB-nOOhXVUdCwo9gtDOI-MhFSZffNIcyPiSmF7AKcIc-t5m_aJiXK-EtZimf1-hNOfrKq7lOsW1SRLozJhngQGNwL8HBaGdLo1fZBZAxIeKrrSaitL4I/s1600/finish4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0E5IQY1nL-0u1K6HNHxpqGm3KB-nOOhXVUdCwo9gtDOI-MhFSZffNIcyPiSmF7AKcIc-t5m_aJiXK-EtZimf1-hNOfrKq7lOsW1SRLozJhngQGNwL8HBaGdLo1fZBZAxIeKrrSaitL4I/s1600/finish4.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
And I finished it off with a pink waist sash using the edge of the fabric. I had intended to utilize that pink for the bottom hem, but I didn't have enough fabric to make that work, so sash it is! And really, without the sash, I think the pink at the neck and armholes would look out of place, but with the pink sash, it all comes together.<br />
<br />
I've already worn this dress out twice--graduation event and my anniversary dinner!--and I'll get at least one more event out of it this summer alone, so I'm calling this a good finish, even if a white dress is extremely impractical in this household. <div class="blogger-post-footer">Need more HPQ in your life? <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Stop by</a> for more goodness!</div>audreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14892548773323584333noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4722669456248196153.post-38393424052410628182017-06-26T06:58:00.000-07:002017-06-26T06:58:54.581-07:00Coast to Coast Traveling Bee Quilt 4<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
For this round of the Coast to Coast Traveling Bee, I had the privilege of working on my super awesome friend K's quilt. K elected to go with a teal, black and white color scheme. I know K is a fan of geometric small scale blenders, and I tried to shape my contribution to this quilt to compliment the blocks that have come before mine.<br />
<br />
The above pic shows the blocks for K so far, not including a set of seriously awesome flying geese from Alison. I also pieced together some extra HSTs that were leftover and included some additional fabrics to be used for sashing when it comes time for K to put this all together. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0Hhyj2rmdUBMuoAwtdJxyh9ojRtm2Pi-ZR9JBdgwhFgoBAKEzG9CfVCZigfPyFeKddhd9k-h5H151lPDEjNHCAo3khqFgfw7GqXy55QreYqJ8oHYLqvANfBcpbF-z52Yz9borr8c4Jus/s1600/karen2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0Hhyj2rmdUBMuoAwtdJxyh9ojRtm2Pi-ZR9JBdgwhFgoBAKEzG9CfVCZigfPyFeKddhd9k-h5H151lPDEjNHCAo3khqFgfw7GqXy55QreYqJ8oHYLqvANfBcpbF-z52Yz9borr8c4Jus/s1600/karen2.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
Before my turn, there was only one block with a gray background, and I thought I should contribute a few additional blocks that might read as gray, so I used a lot of that black and white crosshatch from Carolyn Friedlander. One of my first impressions of this quilt was that a lot of the blocks have movement, so that was my goal when selecting which blocks I wanted to contribute.<br />
<br />
Other fabrics I used include some Violet Craft (the black and white bird print in the bottom block) and a teal print from one of Elizabeth Hartman's lines. The blocks from top to bottom, left to right are <a href="http://katandcatquilts.blogspot.com/2014/06/fibonacci-block-do-good-stitches-july.html">Fibonacci Sequence blocks</a>, <a href="http://quilterinthecloset.blogspot.com/2014/12/ashleys-star-alternate-block-tutorial.html">Ashley's Star (alt block)</a>, <a href="http://www.psiquilt.com/2010/02/pinwheel-sampler-quilt-along-block-one.html">Pinwheel block</a> (I did modify mine), and <a href="http://www.freshlemonsquilts.com/solstice-stars-series-ribbon-star/">Ribbon Star</a>.<br />
<br />
In some ways, this traveling bee assignment was one of the more difficult for me. ONLY three colors???? Do I know how to piece blocks in only three colors? But it appears I do. I think the Ribbon Star block is my fave, though I do like that Ashley's Star block too.<br />
<br />
It's hard to believe, but I have only ONE MORE quilt to work on before this round of the bee is done. It has been such an enjoyable experience, and I think everyone is going to wind up with a really exciting finish! <div class="blogger-post-footer">Need more HPQ in your life? <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Stop by</a> for more goodness!</div>audreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14892548773323584333noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4722669456248196153.post-14230188970370363752017-06-17T07:33:00.002-07:002017-06-17T07:33:26.302-07:00241 and Done!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Another <a href="http://noodle-head.com/product/241-tote-pdf-pattern-2">241 tote</a> is in the books. I had to special order hardware to finish it--1.5" slide adjusters aren't common, I guess--and only realized after I'd placed my order that it was shipping from Malaysia! But it arrived last night, and of course the first thing on my mind when I woke up this morning was finishing this purse. (But first--coffee and taking care of kidlets and other mommy stuff.) <br />

<br />
When the baby went down for her nap, I practically ran to my sewing machine. Sorry, dirty dishes, you'll have to get in line. It was time to finish this bag! (And now the dishes are waiting for this blog post. #priorities)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIK6fdzaHbRVb_6s7HrSYXmF334ZddGny_24BIZKJeeOi_hRrEZIMz53kbz5eSfU7Ife4DXE9_VoBDOUR7nw-DXdxqYzlO6PUKMR8S15JIdy8sISPh2TYm1sF2yyBgVr-D1CoCQRScTSw/s1600/finish3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIK6fdzaHbRVb_6s7HrSYXmF334ZddGny_24BIZKJeeOi_hRrEZIMz53kbz5eSfU7Ife4DXE9_VoBDOUR7nw-DXdxqYzlO6PUKMR8S15JIdy8sISPh2TYm1sF2yyBgVr-D1CoCQRScTSw/s1600/finish3.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
For my friend's bag, I used a canvas exterior with quilting cotton for the sides. I interfaced this bad boy with fusible fleece, added an exterior zip pocket and interior slip pocket as per pattern instructions, but I opted to also include a second interior slip pocket, this one sized for a writing instrument or two. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0wMvz3DVMe1uZG_ql5ND8H2GHjhF-3bPz3Cu9aUD2ln_8QrXvmA-x04NOCUtBDSwHzi1xN16fKpc_5gs6k8Oc6xxXxJV4IY3LIvH3Vxbbx8hybL_FhrqQUXwC7WDREFnOIOkj-nDWqQU/s1600/finish4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0wMvz3DVMe1uZG_ql5ND8H2GHjhF-3bPz3Cu9aUD2ln_8QrXvmA-x04NOCUtBDSwHzi1xN16fKpc_5gs6k8Oc6xxXxJV4IY3LIvH3Vxbbx8hybL_FhrqQUXwC7WDREFnOIOkj-nDWqQU/s1600/finish4.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<br />
For those of you following the great strap debate--we opted for the bunnies! I think they look so good with the bag. But the mountains peek out too, so they weren't completely lost. I used that slide adjuster in making an <a href="http://handmadebymrsh.blogspot.com/2012/05/how-to-make-adjustable-bag-strap.html">adjustable strap</a> for the bag.<br />
<br />
I am totally in love with this bag. I seriously wish it was sticking around with me. I figure if I love it so much, there's a good chance my friend will be pleased as well, right? <br />
<br />
This is my third finish from <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com/2017/04/q2-2017-fal-list.html">my Q2 FAL list</a>, but I just realized I haven't talked about my second finish! And if I could just finish that quilt that is looming every time I walk near my sewing nook, I would be 4 and 0! That's motivation to get 'er done, let me tell you. <div class="blogger-post-footer">Need more HPQ in your life? <a href="http://hotpinkquilts.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Stop by</a> for more goodness!</div>audreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14892548773323584333noreply@blogger.com3
