July Blocks

I finished my Stash Bee and Gypsy Wife blocks some time ago, but I seem to always find it hard to remember to post them here!

For Stash Bee, I made two blue and green pinwheels. The block was quick and fun! Our July queen requested this block in 6.5" or 12.5" unfinished sizes, and I think the finished quilt will be super fun. (I feel like I always say that, but I really do mean it. Truly.)

My Gypsy Wife blocks for July. I got tired of cutting small pieces of fabric, and I figure there are going to be twelve kajillion square in square blocks in the final thing, so why not have a couple of repeats? Probably a bad idea that I'll kick myself for later, but for now, it was simpler, and simpler equals better in my current state.

Even though I'd been warned about July, I forgot, and it turned out meh in the center. But I like the colors, and I think all in all it's okay.

I should get started on August's blocks, but I just can't seem to motivate myself to get started! All those square in a square blocks. Or maybe I'll just start putting sections together? Either way, I should do something....

I'm linking up with the July Gypsy Wife link-up at Work in Progress Girl!

  1. I am amazed at all your productivity with Fava so close to arriving! I think it was smart to have a few repeats - there seem to be so many blocks in the Gypsy Wife quilt.

  2. I wish I was a better blog reader lately, I'd love to read more about your Gypsy Wife quilt. Your blocks look great, even the center of the one you didn't like as much. The colors and patterns of fabric you chose actually say "gypsy" to me very clearly!

  3. Oooh I love that bright greeny yellow in the Star block! I definitely suggest go for some sections though for sections and 1 and 2 you'd have to make a couple of extra main blacks we're not up to in the QAL yet. Unless you pick a random section to start with (3 and 4 are quite small). I definitely found it motivating, even if you leave it up to admire while working on the rest of the QAL afterwards instead of continuing with sections! Seeing it come to life really made me feel like I was actually making a quilt!

  4. Your blocks look fantastic! I can't believe how productive you've been, especially because of Fava- you're putting the rest of us to shame! 8-)

  5. Haha... I think you're allowed to let some things slide, this close to Fava's birth :D I think I'd have been crossing all the non-essentials off my list a while ago! Anyway, the blocks are really great! And actually, I like the idea of doing some repeats.. there are enough of that size square in square blocks in the quilt that you'll probably never notice the repeats again once you've got it all together.

    1. I think I'll be doing more repeats in the future. It's just so much easier, and if I don't mind, that's all that matters, right? :)
